3.2 possibilities
 

I have a 3.2 with 60k on it that seems in excellent condition other than pitting on 2 cam lobes. If I do go in to replace the cams what else can i do with the engine that would not have an enormous bill attached to it? I am thinking a 964 regrind and euro spec pistons. Does that make any sence ?? Are there other options in that price range? thanks Doug

You aren't really going to gain much by going to the euro pistons. There is more power to be had from the engine with the right cam. I would talk with John from Dougherty Racing Cams about what cam to go with. He needs to know what you want from the engine and will help guide you to which cam will work. John posts here as Camgrinder. Part of that depends on if you need to comply with emissions.
Also a top end may be in order as you will have it all apart and with the low miles shouldn't have to replace valves so pretty much the guides and labor. Also replace the lower 12 dilavar studs with steel. I had two broken at 88,000 miles. Were you looking to just change the pistons or cylinders and pistons?

Pitting of the lobes doesnt stop the support of the rockers. As long as youre getting the lift wait until you really need to take it apart. You might look at a different oil.

I have changed my oil to Penn green, I hope that will slow down the cam erosion. I thought that with the good condition of the engine that I could get away with euro pistons without replacing the cylinders. I have seen a set of good used euro pistons on this site for sale. I will check on the cam possibilities. I also will make some changes on the exhaust side to help it breathe better. Thanks for the input and suggestions. Doug

I just read the article that Micheal suggested. May be the cam regrind, top end inspection , chip and exhaust is my best route?
