Are these head studs ok to use?
Could these be used again, or do they need to be replaced?

I would replace them.
What are they, Dilavar, steel, OEM, Aftermarket??? The markings/scratches on them would have me worried. Raceware, ARP and Supertec make headstuds that are very very good!! (I ordered Supertec studs, extremely strong, race proven and not expensive IMO) Henry Schmidt from Supertec and Steve@rennsport will probably chime in... ;) |
I wouldn't use them in any engine I do,......:)
Henry??? |
I would say with the stress risers, surface metal compression, and damaged threads created by visegrips or a pipe wrench on those, they are junk.
you can always use them for storing washers. |

I've said about all I'm going to on the head stud issue, at least for now. It hurts my head.....:) Oops I logged on under a friends log-in. Sorry |
Welcome to the board. Pictures are always good so we can see what your working on. :D
Unanimous decision, even with the pro's chiming in. Don't use these! Go factory steel or Supertec head studs. |
You can use them as on oversize stud if you have some really buggered up exhaust head stud threads, use the 10mm head stud thread in the head and thread the shaft 8mm

Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking. There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane? |
