2,0 liter --> 2,2 liter upgrade...

Hi everybody

Can anyone elaborate on the 2,0 liter to 2,2 liter upgrade... Its only mentioned briefly in Waynes book on page 112.

I have a 2,0L "E" engine fitted with Webers ... what parts need upgraded - f.ex. can I still use the E cam? etc.

Im considering the upgrade as an option to a rebuild of my existing setup... please help :-)... maybe you know of some good articles etc

Thanks

Søren

The things you need is the P/Cs and a set of 70 to 77 heads. The pistons give you the size and heads give you the sealing surface for the cylinders and the correct deck height, and the larger valves.
Another way is to install the 2.4/2.7 crank and rods, clearance the skirt of the piston from the counterbalancers of the crank, keep the 2.0 E pistons and this raises the compression of the 2.0 several points.

Thanks - I think I will investigate into the first choice... 2,2L P/C + heads...

No mods are needed to the crank and cam - is it really that simple :)

Just P/C s and heads

You can use 2.2S pistons with 2 liter heads if you have the valve pockets on the pistons cut to clear the 2 liter valve angle. IIRC, the S pistons will get you near 2 liter E compression.

It would be easier to get Nickie cylinders and JE pistons, which would allow up to an 87.5mm bore in the stock spigots, resulting in a short stroke 2.4. You could spec CR to your desired level, too. Since you would need new cylinders anyway, you could shift the costs of buying heads into the P/Cs and be done with it.

Makes good sense Kenik...

Thanks...
