another viton o ring question
 

okay, okay i messed up.
i used the verboten blue o rings in my rebuild.
who knew?
i was real careful when torqueing up the case thru bolts,
but i know 1 or 2 o rings twisted a bit.
i did lube with silicon seal.
am i doomed to a dripping case?
can i just removed the thru bolts and install the viton o rings?
or should i just take my chances?

Go with what you did, they probably wont leak, you lubed them as you tightened them so they ll seal.

You can remove one at a time, install the new seal and torque it down in the order shown int he book. I used the blue ones but I torque is all down without the seals then remove one bolt at a time and install the seals, not much difference than what you would be doing. This is an old trick used when building 912 engines, it eliminates all the extra twist. but it may be fine as is too, your call

I installed all my thru bolts without the o-rings, then after a few days, I installed the Viton o-rings, one at a time with Dow 55.

It was nice to be able to take my time with this.

Leakproof.

i'm far enough along i think i'll just leave it.
i already did the cam timing.
