#8 bearing seal, 2.7 engine

Is it best to use the larger #8 bearings seal as used on 3.0 engines on the 2.7 engines. Any problems use that thicker seal?

The bearings are all basically the same. The seal wont leak on the outer surface but next to the crank nose.

I hope this message isn't too late. DO NOT use the thicker ring! It will not compress enough and you will pull your case studs trying to close up the case around the nose bearing. I tried it and the o-ring pinched into the case at the seam. I recommend installing the proper o-ring. You can use a little silicon grease (dow 111, etc). Don't get any of the grease into the case seam or it will cause a leak (also found from experience).

Already done, used the larger seal with no issues. Used dow 111, used sparingly to prevent contamination of case sealing surface. Sealant squeezed out both sides of case.
