Acorn nuts

I am getting ready for the big case seal and collecting my nuts and bolts to make sure I have them all.

It appears I am missing the 2 10mm x 1.0 acorn nuts that go on the integrated through-bolts.

Would there be any issue using standard hex nuts as a replacement or do I need Acorn for these?

Anybody have acorn nuts to sell? I'm interested.

Thank you.

Eric J.

They are available new, or you can put an ad in the classifieds, you should be able to come by some inexpensively.

The reason for the acorn feature is that the through-bolt passages are oil galleries. If you were to use conventional nuts, oil would leak out through the exposed thread.

The leaking through the thread scenario is highly unlikely if the case sealing area is in good shape and good o-rings are used. The washer has a chamfer on the inside to force the o-ring between the case and the threads to create a seal. Late model 911 engines did away with the acorn nuts altogether.

To answer your question, email me your address and I'll send you a couple of nuts no charge.
