Broken 964 Head - Repairable

Hi All

The part of the guide bore which protrudes into the exhaust port and doesn't receive the ceramic coating is broken off. Likely occurred when the new guide was installed by PO. Can it be repaired by building it up with weld and reboring or dare I ask, is it OK in this state?

TIA
Bill

It seems logical to me that if one were asking this sort of question, that a picture be included.

Bill,

Ed is right, one cannot offer anything constructive without a nice, sharp clear pic.

This is not uncommon when new guides are incorrectly installed. It can be welded and repaired but IMHO, its cheaper to get another head. Just make sure that any replacement head surface is machined to the same depth as the others on the same bank.

Sorry, I mispoke, I meant 964. Nothing is cheap on a Porsche and inexpensive is relative, I guess.

Another broken 964 head- but it doesn't sound to be as bad as our friend Eric.
