Shroud Grommet

I need to replace the rubber grommet on my fiberglass shroud where the harness goes through the shroud to the alternator (83SC). Does anyone know where you can get one? I didn't have any luck finding it on the host's site and I didn't want to use any rubber bushing, not knowing if it would hold up to the heat.

Thanks for any help on this.

The heat isn't that bad there, I'd use any grommet that fits. Try Ace Hardware.

I have the same situation as mine disintegrated when I tried to prise it out. I am going to find one that fits the hole and call it good.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess as long as it seals the hole, it doesn't matter if it gets brittle in there over time. Ill see what I can find from local hardware stores.

How about a fuel hose that fits the hole, split it to run the wires and use zip ties at each side to hold it in place.

The large size grommet, at Ace hardware fit my shroud perfectly. They only had one left.

Anyone, have any idea, what the small holes in the shroud are for, by the fan?

Should I seal them up?

I think there's, two or three of them.

Leakproof if you mean the ones on the lip at the fan they are for securing the shroud to the fan housing and holding wires. At least thats what they are for on mine!

No, no, no,
These holes.
There's a third hole, but I some how lost the pic.

Perhaps they are for securing the spark plug wire's,

Im pretty sure those holes are for the rubber brace that secures the plug wires to the shroud. I have a pair of plug wires with these brackets and they have a rubber nipple on the bracket that plugs into the hole. I would plug the holes with another type of plug. I believe it would keep hot air from blowing onto the hoses above the shroud, shortening their life.

Thanks Andy,

Now I know for sure what these holes are for, and I agree, they should probably be temporally plugged to conserve that precious air, so important to these engines.
Or get new spark plug wire support brackets.
