Drain Plug Analysis

I rebuilt the top end of my motor this past winter. I changed the oil after about 20 minutes, then 20 miles, then changed it again at 100 miles and now changed it again at 500 miles. I replaced the drain plug in my case with a magnetic plug. It had a non-magnetic plug previously, so I had no baseline for metal on the plug. The magnetic plug on the tank never had and does not currently have any visible metal.

Here is a shot of the drain plug. Again, last oil change was 100 miles, this one about 500 miles. I have been running Brad Penn 30 WT Break-In, switching now to BP 20w/50. Does the amount of metal look normal? Thanks.

Top End & Reseal

It looks ok as long as it just fuzz, run it thru your fingers.

Thanks Craig - I think I fall into the "fuzz" categories, because there didn't seem to be any substance to it. Like it melted as I was wiping my finger across the magnet.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1278728148.jpg
