3.0 engine case... what to look for?
I just bought a used engine case from a long time reputable Pelican member. I have the case here and am just wondering what to look out for as far as having it serviced by a machine shop. There are no Porsche specialty shops here but I have a very trusted shop locally that will be doing the work. I would just like to give him a list of things to look out for if any. TIA
The case is a 930/10 ROW 3.0 case and seems to be in good condition with no broken Dilivar studs. (steel ones were included to replace the lower row) Edit: Also, the case is a "0" and I have a "1" size intermediate shaft gear and nothing for the crank yet... can I use a "0" size gear on the crank along with the "1" on the shaft or do they need to match? ("0", "0"... "1", "1") |
As far as I am aware the case and intermediate shaft have to match '0', '0' or '1', '1' crank does not matter I dont think....

The intermediate shaft is suposed to match but I know in the manuals there is a snipit that tells how you can mix and match. I also havent seen it in some time so I cant reprint it.
I always use the correct combination then there is no worries. Bruce |
Great question..as I too just bought the same... My question.., where on the case would one look for the '1 or 0' markings?
Thanks! |
I found it on the pulley end of the case. I can't remember where exactly... look around and you will see it. It will be all by itself, no other numbers near it.
I'm guessing the cases are pretty much bullet proof... nothing really to be concerned with??? |
+1 on the bulletproof case I blew piston and cylinder #2 and there was no damage to my case....

Bump for anyone wanting to add something
