Im putting my 2.7 motor together. What out of these items do I need a gasket for??
I took these off to clean the motor. I didnt take the motor down past the surface but its time to reinstall and I have no idea what needs gaskets. Ill circle the components I need to reinstall.
Thanks Nathan http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1281153754.jpg |
Hello There:
I am no expert, but I am rebuilding a 3.0L so maybe I can help here. Number 1 needs a gasket. The breather gasket, look under engine parts gaskets. Number 2 needs a thermostat O-ring. Look under gaskets in engine parts section. Number 3,4, 5, and 6 need the sealing rings replaced. Also, under the gaskets in engine section. All of these can be purchased right here on Pelican Parts. |
Great info thank you. I have the o-ring for #2 but it didnt seem to slide all the way down in to the motor but thats most likely a lubing issue. Ill get right on ordering these gaskets from here. Im excited to put the motor together again. It ran so nicely and it is the fastest 2.7 iv felt in a while.

What are the names of 3,4 and 6??
Thanks |
First and foremost, number 3 in the picture above is the Oil Pressure switch and you should buy a new one! They are only $6.00 and comes with a new sealing ring.
Number 4 needs parts number 900-123-007-70-OEM and is the sealing ring for the sensor in the Chain Housing cover. Number 6 is a temperature sending unit and needs sealing ring part number 900-123-007-30-M131. Hope this helps. |
Yes a big help. I have already ordered these parts plus valve cover gaskets and timing chain cover gaskets. Im excited. I do need to pick up an alternator fan surround piece that the 11 blade fan spins in. Mine is badly pitted and needs too much help.
Thanks again for your help. Nathan |
If the thermostat doesnt go all the way in, spin it 190 degrees as it only fits one way on the studs.

The thermostat is indexed and should only fit onto the studs one way....unless one was extreemely brutal with a large hammer. ;)
