964 connecting rod bolt torque

I am rebuilding a 964 3.6 non-turbo and have torqued the con rod bolts to 15 NM. I have now torqed them further adding 90 degrees of turn. The total torque is now about 45 NM.

The specification indicates to torque another 90 degrees. I am freaking out at this since adding 90 degrees of turn will add a lot of torque.

Does anyone know what the stock torque value should be? Is 65 NM too much?

Thanks,

Torque readings are far less accurate than torque plus angle.

Torque plus angle takes friction out of the equation and essentially measure bolt stretch which is really the only important factor.

So don't be afraid, and go ahead and torque them the next 90 degree stage.

Having said that, If it were my engine I'd use ARP rod bolts instead of factory. With the ARP's, I found that 5 ft/lbs plus 135 degrees equals the proper stretch when I measured them with a stretch gauge.
