Clutch recommendation ?

What are my options for an uprated &/or lighweight clutch - or would a std 215mm F&S clutch be good enough ?

Engine is a 2.5 litre short-stroke (66mm) twin-plug engine with lightened 901 flywheel.

Transmission is a close-ratio 914

Car will be used mainly on the street (with a few competition excursions ;))

I'd be tempted to try a stock clutch. I have a 3.0 race engine with a stock 225mm clutch and it works fine. If there is a Sachs sport clutch in that size, that would be my next choice. Make sure to use genuine parts. I had a QSC clutch disk that broke after a couple of races.

Eagledriver, did you have any experience with the QSC flywheel? I have a 964 and the dual mass flywheel could use a repalacment if only because the thing wheighs about 3 million pounds.

I have no experience with anything QSC other than the clutch disc. I would'nt use anything from them based on that experience. The disc wasn't an exact copy of the Sachs part. It had narrow areas of metal where it could crack (and did, then broke). It was a poor design. Given the dual mass flywheel problems that Porsche had with a quality manufacturer, I'd stay away.

I suppose if it's not a dual mass flywheel you could take a chance on it. Just make sure it fits properly. I've heard of flywheels that weren't an exact fit for the pressure plate. The pressure plate didn't fit tight against the flywheel and the bolts backed out.
