GE Ring Tolerance
My shop called to say that one of my heads was damaged on the seal area where it attaches to the cylinder and they have had to skim 0.25mm to repair it. My question is will the GE ring take up the difference compared to the others. Can the heads be made up to the cam towers first, then fit the whole assembly to the cylinders? As far as I am aware the GE rings have a spring center which I believe is designed in to allow for slight variances in tolerance?

All 3 on the same side have to be cut or you loose your deck height. This, in my case, is seen if there is broken head studs. The CE ring will take up some but if its not a flat seal to the head youre looking for a blowout and youre not an 8.5CR engine so it would happen faster.

Bruce,
Thats as I expected just wanted confirmation before I tell them to go ahead. |
Seems like all 6 should be resurfaced as standard procedure and .010" or .25mm should be removed to clean them up equally.

Getting all 6 done after thinking about it seems the best way to go....
