Kudo's to a Porsche Cylinder Head Repair Shop
Hey guys,
I realized recently that I seldom go out of my way to express gratitude when something good happens. Conversely I will not wait a minute to demand corrective actions when something doesn't go right. Maybe this is just human nature. Not a virtue for sure. I want to send some "atta boys" or "kudo's" to Bob Hirst of Anchor Antlantic Enterprises of Pitman, NJ. These guys do great work on Porsche cylinder heads. I sent them six heads off my 3.2 liter Euro Spec engine that I am rebuilding under guidance from a master Porsche technician here in Little Rock. A few days later I received a UPS notificaton that my heads were in transit. A day or two later the heads arrived. What I received from them far exceeded my expectations as well as the 35 year veteran Porsche Master Technician. He said these are the best looking heads I have seen in my career. I doubt if a NOS set from Porsche will look as nice as these. The goal these from vendors everywhere is to meet a customer's expectation, but few ever exceed the customer's expecations. I recommend all who are reading this post to look seriously at Bob Hirst and Anchor Atlantic Enterprises for any and all Porsche cylinder head work. From the simplest Porsche 356 cylinder head to the most complex twin plugged later models. You will not regret it. Their web address is Anchor Atlantic Enterprises LLC - The Process Henry ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I also had my '87 Carrera heads rebuilt by Bob and cannot say enough good things about his work and service. The only problem was shipping from Canada and back using UPS. I ended up paying many hundreds of dollars on shipping, duties and brokerage fees. However, I would still do it again considering the quality of the heads.

Hey there,
Oh my I forgot to mention the bag of candy. Thanks for the reminder. Yes there was a candy treat in the box and the folks at my local Porsche shop and I enjoyed them. Another nice touch from Bob Hirst and gang. I am having a senior moment and can't remember the name of the candy. It was famous in the 1960s and I hadn't seen or experienced that can since then. Dadgummit Bill, I am sorry for all of the added costs you had to absorb for doing business with Bob. Are you being punished for living in such a beautiful place? Grin. Shipping my Carrera heads from Little Rock to New Jersey was $55.00 and of course the same cost back from New Jersey to LIttle Rock, AR. For anyone in the U.S.A. planning on shipping their cylinder heads to Bob, here is a suggestion. Order a package of the medium flat rate Priority Mail boxes from the USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service) and pack you heads in those boxes carefully and then box those boxes for shipping. Worked like a champ. Cheers, Henry |

May I ask what it cost? Looks like you got new exhaust valves. I'm planning a top overhaul on a 3.2L
Thanks, Ed |

Hi Ed,
The cost depends on what Bob has to do to your cylinder heads to bring them back into spec. Call him and discuss your needs and if need be, your budget. In my case Bob supplied me with a ball park cost ($900.00 shipped) on a recent set of heads he had finished for another customer. I felt the ball park to be realistic based entirely on the level of work involved and the many strict processes they have in house. As to the valves, I supplied new intake and exhaust valves that I purchased. Even though the valves were new, they inspected them thoroughly. They found one to have a flat spot on the valve stem and they replaced it. All but one of my valve spring assemblies were tested to be in spec and the one that failed was also replaced. They did not use the valve guides I supplied but instead used a better grade that they supplied. Hope this helps. Henry |
