No Spark after top end rebuild 79 SC

I just finished the rebuild. The engine turns over and gas is being delivered.
Just replaced electrical part of ignition switch. I get voltage to pin 15, but no pulse between ground and pin 7. Looked at the green coax wire and saw that the wire had deteriorated and insulation was off inner wire. I've ordered a new one, but did a quick repair to see if engine would start, but no go.

Is my problem the magnetic pick up coil or the pulse generator in the distributor?

Assuming these ignition parts were working prior to the rebuild, i would suspect a bad connection some were. Unplud the CDI and make sure it's clean use some dielectric grease
and make sure it seats properly on reconnect. Do the same for the 14 pin connecter.

Cleaned all connectors and put on di-electric grease, but still no start.
Problem seems to be no pulse between CDI plug #7 and 31b.

If the green coax wire shorted out could that have cased problems with distributor pulse generator or the mag coil?

The distributor rotor is not the one I use to have, I got it from here but I can't use the sealing ring that goes under the rotor, could that cause any problems?

Please help!

No Spark - Help???

Can anyone help?

The car hasn't been driven in 2 years, would love to get this on the road !

Are you certain the dist. is clocked corectly?
It turns counter clockwise. Check wires for correct firing order.
Are you getting any spark at the plugs?

No spark at plug, and in using the Bentley Manual ignition check list, there was no response between the CDI plug #7 and 31b. Which according to Bentley says that my distributor pulse generator is not working?

You say you've temporarily repaired the green wire.
Have you checked it with an ohm meter to make sure that the 2 wires are good and not
shorting to each other?
I believe the pulse generators are avilable from your local auto parts stores.

After temporally fixing the green wire, wiggling it showed no grounding, but you are right, my electrician (an LIRR Electrician) said let's replace the green wire and go from there. I just got back from my local auto parts store and after three phone calls they did locate a magnetic coil and hope fully that is the problem. You are the only one who has responded and I thank you, I'm going to e-mail my fellow Metro PCA Autocross racers to see if any one of them can help.

Pete thanks again.
