ballpark cost of head work
I'm wondering what I should be expecting as a reasonable price to get my heads refurbished. Not including the parts, just the machine work for new valves
Also, any recommendations as to places to have the work done. I'm in upstate NY and a local guy has done Porsche heads before (he does a lot of maserati and citroen head work for a guy who specializes in those). I'm not opposed to shiping them off somewhere that has a good reputation for quality work. |
Rennworks in Cali, excellent work and competitive price, Aaron Burnham.

any idea how much we are talking about???

Make sure to account for shipping. If you can find someone local that does good work may end up saving some. To and From can eat up a hundred bucks real quick but UPS loves it!

Send them down to Bob in New Jersey. . . .

For a 3-angle valve job where you re-use/grind the valves, you are going to be looking at about $575-675 from a good Porsche shop. Shipping, new valves, additional port/machine work not included in that #. For your location I would recommend Atlantic Enterprises.

It cost me about $600. labor for the valve job and new valve guides installed.

Same here for valve job and all new guides installed; about $600 and freight was about $50 each way.
