Weber set up help for 2.4
I am trying to get the correct set-up information for my engine using Weber IDT Carbs. Was going to go ITB, but want to get it running first with the webers and deal with the efi later.
Engine: 2.4 w 2.2S pistons Solex cams Small standard port heads and valves from 2.4-- all redone Questions: Need to know where to start with the various jets and stuff. Carbs came with standard early porsche set-up... F1 Emulsion tubes, 45 jet idle i believe, and i think a 130 main jet, 27 mm venturies What I have: 34mm Venturies(have 5, looking for one more ????) F5 and F7 emulsion tubes in spares bin Jetting is open, sold all my spares a few years ago, so will buy these new. Suggestions on where to start? Which emulsion tubes? etc... Everything is disassembled and ready to get cleaned and put back together. |
TDI,
I'm running a 2.4 w/2.2 JE pistons, S cams, and manifolds matched to36mm intake ports. I'm running the following set up at 5000ft. and I'm very happy with the performance. Venturies=34 E. Tubes=F3 Mains=135 Air Correctors=160 Idles=55 Dana |
I have a Weber book and the emulsion tubes seem to effect low end performance quiet a bit depending on where the holes are high or low in the tube. Are there some that are better than others? Did not understand the differences from the haynes book, was super vague.

You might want to check this thread:
Help with (semi) Hotrod Engine 2.4S - Page 3 - Early 911S Registry Bulletin Board It's a dyno run at Jerry Woods:
One difference for you; you have IDTP Webers and this engine had IDAs. The two main differences are:
My 2.3 with S cams uses 34mm venturis and I had 32's in it before, wouldn't go back to them. My jetting is: 42mm Weber IDS without high speed enrichment tubes; 34mm venturis; 145 mains; 55 idles; F3's; 170 air correctors for the mains; 100 idle air correctors - I have a nearly open exhaust and am @ sea level. Ports are 37 intake and 36 exhaust with 1 1/2" headers. Paul Abbott Performance Oriented |
Paul, I was just about to send you an email for some information. Thank you. Will look at that thread and call you tomorrow.
