Weber 40 IDA ID.?

I need help with the ID data on my Webers.
One carb is stamped" 40 IDA 3C "and below that it is stamped" 1 F"
The other carb is "40 IDA 3C 1" and below that is "1 H"

What's the difference between the C and C1?
Whats the difference between the lower stamp 1 F and 1 H ?

Any Weber guys got an idea?

Thanks

On a 911 the C is for the passenger side carb and C1 is for the driver's side; "C" actually refers to the "choke" so that an IDA3C is an "IDA" type throttle body (down draft style) with three chokes.

The other numbers (like those you have) were manufacturing date codes which were begun by Weber after Porsche no longer needed Weber carbs for their production cars. The Webers used on Porsche production cars had serial numbers enabling them to keep track of chassis, engine and carb matching. This change in serial numbering to date codes occured around late 1971.

Weber sold the manufacturing rights to the Carter Carburetor Corporation some years later (late 1970's???) and the "Made in Italy" disappeared. These Made in USA Webers have a spotty history having suffered casting porosity and inaccuracy in machining of emulsion tube wells, progression hole locations, etc. I have worked on some of these USA Webers which were fine to use and believe the worst of the others have been "recycled" leaving serviceable ones for us to worry over...just a theory.
