My friends call me Phish
|
Oil Cooler Blues
I have had zero luck thus far on a solid oil cooler. 0 for 2 on a cooler that doesn't leak.
I just had a cooler tested and it failed at 65psi. The gentleman that tested it told me that the engine while at idle has a psi of 40 put once you "get on it" it jumps up to 80, therefore the leak is more apparent, can anyone second this or give me the low down. I am going to try to get this one repaired, the last one had to much corrosion to repair. Fingers X |

Yes the cooler will leak more at higher pressure. I've had 3 coolers fail in the last 4 years. The best one I had was from Parts heaven in Hayward. It lasted for 2 years. They will pressure test before they send it to you. I've given up on my engine cooler for now and am just using the front bumper cooler in my race car.
