Oil pumps 4 rib or 3 rib? 2.4
I am sorting all my items out to make sure I have everything ready for my build. I have 3 3 rib oil pumps and one 4 rib oil pump. Is one better in some way than the other. Books say 4 rib is better, but do not know if that is true and why?
Building 2.4 w/2.2 S pistons. Will go in my 914/6 and plan on running a front mount oil cooler as well. If it matters. Anyone have specs on the 3 rib vs 4 rib pumps? Which should I use and why?

IIRC the 4 rib is for engines with the oil bypass mod. Therefore the pressure side of the pump is larger and the scavenging return side is smaller....
So if ya got oil bypass mod, go with the 4 rib.
