engine shroud paint?
My 2.2 engine has a black fiberglass engine shroud. Any special paint needed to spray paint it?
|
The original color is a fiberglass gel coat, so it goes all the way through the material. The way it used to be was red = S, green = E, and yellow = T. On CIS cars from 1973.5 onwards, they were black.
Are you sure it is black? If so, others can give their experiences with paint. If not, it can be sanded and polished to bring back the original gel coat. |
A portion of the black is worn off and underneath is gray

Sounds like a later shroud.

I used Krylon in a can and it came out great. Repaired the glass cracks/breaks. Sanded, filled w/ light body fill, sanded smooth, primed, painted. Cake.
Lots of threads on this with pics; not just mine. You cannot get it back to factory look w/o molding your own brand new shroud as the color is embedded in the resin of the glass... -michael |
If the original is the color you want, you can restore it by sanding and polishing.

Thanks all
Thank you
