Is this going in the 914 project car? This is the engine with those Titanium valve spring keepers, right?

Aasco springs and Ti retainers

Yes, it was going to go in my 914/6, but now it will be taking up residence in my '74 911, hence the 911 sheetmetal.

OK. You still have the 914 project in a holding pattern, right? You have not sold it?

It has been a while since I have been down to the shop. :)

Yes. Holding pattern ... although I'd sell it for the right price.

Those Aasco springs and TI retainers saved my bacon on my 2.5l race motor. My shift coupler screw started backing out and missed a shift, twice. If I did not have those, with the Pauter rods I would of damaged the motor. Well worth the cash and insurance.

Hey Steve,

What is the story with those 1 inch tall spacers between the manifolds and the heads?
And what did you coat the PMO manifolds with to get that mag look?

dug

Just for grins,....here is another twin-plug 2.5 with Mod-S cams, good heads, and all the right innards for this application.

Its now completed and made 260+BHP on the dyno.

Properly done, these can make good power with excellent drivability (using the right cams).

I would suspect they allow a better transition between the ports and intake runners- tapering into an anti-reversion step, along with providing some thermal insulation for the carbs from the hot metal heads.
