Excellent fabricated tool
My Buddy Ed is a long time mechanic and even rebuilds Porsche engines in his spare time. he is very resourceful and innovative in his approaches.
he needed a cam holding tool and didn't want to wait so he built one. This thing is amazing to use and he allowed me to show you guys the pics in case anyone wanted to do something similar. ( this is for the older cam design. ) he started out by cutting off the end of an old 17mm wrench and welding it to the head of a Big bolt. he also cut a chunk out of an old 1/2 inch drive impact socket and welded it to the side of a 3/4 drive 46mm socket. The he slipped a the 3/4 drive 46 mm socket over the bolt and then welded on an even bigger bolt to serve as a handle. I have to tell you guys that this thing is amazing and really easy to use once you get the hang of it. If anyone does not want to pay ridiculous money for tools you can do this on the cheap if you can weld and have some old tools lying around. ![]()
