Chain Ramps

Hi- I'm installing pressure fed chain tensioners on my 1969 911s.

On the right bank I noticed that the top outboard chain ramp is not fully seated all the way against the cam box! The chain ramp has been operating like this since I've owned the car and the ramp isn't worn.

I don't feel any click or detent when I push the ramp home to its fully seated position.

What holds the ramp in place??? Do the ridges that ride up into the chain locate the ramp?

If so can I figure that this ramp hasn't worked loose but was installed incorrectly?

I pushed it home and it looks OK-

Is it safe?

2 photos show ramp.

Thanks

The chain ramps have a split retainer that allows the ramp to lock on the stud or the bolt. The long side has the clip and goes toward the gear, either facing long side in or out. On removal when they are old, the retainers will break and if you use them over they wont locate properly.

New ramps are cheap, I'd replace them all now while you're in there.
