oil hose rotating on pipes

While cleaning up the blown out thermostat mess i noticed that the hoses rotate on the steel lines going to the cam housings. Is this normal??? They look good and don't leak.

never seen this before,
chris

Hi Juan,

I believe they were replaced 10k miles, (also 10 years ago - my dad didn't drive much).

Both metal ends are secure and don't leak but the center section of rubber hose, (including the crimped ferrull) rotate easily on the pipes but don't appear to be leaking.

Is this normal?

Hi John,

This didn't seem normal to me either. Thanks for the input. I'll order two new asap.

Thanks,
chris

:)
The rubber has gotten hard enough to no longer grip the fitting.
A leak is just around the corner. Definately need to replace them.

It did happen on my former van on the lines to oil cooler. One of them was already leaking the other just moving into the fittings. Change them before they make a big mess.
