Upgrading a US 3.0 to a ROW
I have a chance to purchase Euro P/C for a 80sc us spec, is this wise avenue to gain HP, will I need to machine the heads? I believe the cis in also different. Your advice would be much appreciated.

An 80 euro is the same as a 78/79 with 8.5 pistons where the US 80 has 9.3CR, so youre not coming out ahead. If you had the 9.8 of the 82/83 euros then you need to do some work on the fuel distributor and injection system.

PP seems to give the impression that 80-83 came with 9.8:1
Pelican Parts - Product Information: 99-0174-916-SET maybe there was a change mid year? In any event, before you purchase, make sure you know what compression ratio you will be getting. for some reason, I thought the 1980s had a wierd ratio in the us and row. im sure its documented somewhere...plus, if you dont have a good history of your car, you never know what you have under there ;) |
My euro 82 had stock 9.8:1 pistons till #2 connected with the valves, now has JE 9.8:1 custom psitons for 964 cam profile.
