# 8 o ring leak

Any opinions on if I could split the case on a 2.4 and replace this ring without remachining and line boring ect?Ive heard that the mag cases will distort once split the engine runs great other than an unnacceptable spew of oil mist on the back of the car. BTW I have tried jb welding silicon and other methods as a band aid.Ideas? Steve
