2.4 mfi distributor in a 3.0 case
some details of my experiment. I wanted a better curve than the stock SC dizzy for my webered 3.0. I could have the stock one recurved but I have a bunch of extras and parts laying around. I took the drive gear off a SC dizzy and put it on the 2.4. just drilled out the old pins, found a screw with the right diameter and used the shank to pin the gear. then a center punch to flare the ends. plugged it into the 3.0 case. I'll post running results once I fire it up.

The SC rotation is CCW, the early dist is CW rotation. won't work

anyway, after a few of the usual start-up issues, it's running. I need to get it tuned and dialed in then we'll see if the curve makes any difference. |
I think what Mike was trying to tell you is that CW and CCW distributor advance mechanisms only function in one direction. So,.....if you rotate the 2.4 distributor CCW, you'll not get any centrifugal advance.

oops. never thought of that. feeling a little silly. oh well, back to the drawing board.

rotation
Exactly, We make a billet 6 pin distributor with a magnetic trigger for both rotations, if you like take a look at the website. Steve has used a few of them. They work well and you can change the springs and/or limit the total advance to make whatever you like for a curve.

Or plan ahead and change the crank gear and the 2.4/ 2.7 stuff will all work.
