Need engine bolt torque chart for 74 911

Howdy gents,

I am having considerable difficulty finding a chart of bolt torque settings for my 74 engine. Numerous searches haven't found it.

I am reassembling everything from the long block up on my dads 74 911.

the thermostst bolts, (6mm) were overtightened and partially pulled,( by a mechanic in a hurry), so when i inherited the car and cooled the oil, i lost 12 quarts in 2 seconds. The cost to fix the mess is ....well, substantial, since i do not have the time to do all of the work. I am making the time to be of more help but really need clutch, flywheel, front pulley and a lot of other torque values to try to do a good job.

Photos are of thermostat peaking up because of pulled threads, (car was thoroughly warm at the time). Everything, including exhause, brakes and engine compartment was totally hosed in oil, (20-50 redline, at $15/qt.)

pics of repaired car soon,
thanks, chris

Do you have Wayne's engine rebuild book? Bentley? Both of these have torque values.

I wish i did have one or both.

This afternoon I am going to install the flywheel and clutch, secure the front pulley and before i put all of the tin back on, i would like to make sure everything i can reach is properly tightened.

Hi Brad,

I have been searching the forum for posts on the parts i need torque for and have come up with the following values, (hope they are right):

Flywheel 150 Nm (blue or red locktight??) New bolts every time?? mine have about 10 k/10 years on them.
Clutchplate 14.5 Ft pound
Valve cover 6 or 8 ft pounds??
Front pulley, no washer, grade 8.8 goes to 80 Nm (59 ft pound),
grade 12.9 170 Nm (125 ft pound)??

13 mm case bolts ??

17 or 19 mm case bolts ??

Oil cooler nuts??

Intake manifold nuts???

CV joint bolts 10 mm??

Definitely going to buy the books.

Thanks,
chris
