Exhaust stud hieght
Had the machine shop remove the exhaust studs when they did the valve guides. Need to know the height to install the new studs, know I have seen the spec somewhere but can't for the life of me find it now.
Engine is an 87 3.2 Anyone have the number handy |

Just screw them in far enough that you get 2 times the diameter of the stud in depth. If its a 6mm stud then the thread depth should be 12mm. This is just a rule of thumb for steel studs in aluminum castings.
You will probably be ok threading them all the way till they bottom out and then backing out half a turn.

Stud height
I believe that I have read that the studs should be 134 or 135mm above the machined surface around the threaded hole that the stud goes into. If left too long, the hex key head nuts will not tighten sufficiently before the stud pushes the hex key out of the socket. Hope this helps.

My bad........
Read exhaust stud and thought cylinder head stud. My bad. If you are going to use hex key nuts, make certain that the stud isn't too long. You can measure the gasket, flange and washer to get an approximation of the length needed.
