Oil Line Removal Problem
 

I am rebuilding (Upper) the original numbers matching 2.0 on my 68 911. I didn't plan on splitting the cases. I have the motor out and on a stand and began tearing it down. When I was removing the long oil line from the oil tank to the drivers side of the motor, the fitting in the block began to spin rather than the oil line fitting on the hose. There is just not enough space to lock down that fitting so I can remove the line. I realize that I can cut the hose fitting line off and then remove the line and fitting, but I am worried about metal particles entering the block.

Has anyone else incurred this issue? Suggestions?

If you have a thin open end would that fit in there? I have had to thin down wrenches before.

I use a thin crescent wrench on the case fitting and a large crescent wrench on the oil line. I use a 1" pipe slipped over the end of the large wrench for added leverage.

Make sure the small wrench is fitted nice and tight to the case fitting nut and does not interfere with the oil line fitting nut. When rotating the large wrench, the smaller wrench will wedge against the case allowing you loosen the oil line nut.

That would be a lot of grinding on a wrench over 1" in size, although it looks like I'm running out of options. Additionally I really only have about a 1/4" between the block and the hose fitting. If I do grind a wrench down to a 1/4", it will want to lay against the oil tube rather than the block. when trying to remove the hose fitting...Grrr...
