Good idea to convert 2.4T MFI heads to 36/35 ports?
I posted here: 911 head flows
but there hasn't been any response. I'm searching for an answer, and looking for opinons. My goal is to build a 2.4 S spec engine (with Webers) based on a 2.4 T MFI that I own. Dumb idea? There is no question about originality, the engine is not original to my car. I have no intention of attempting to port the heads on my own, but I admit to being a skeptic about entrusting the work to others. Many thanks. |

Hi Tom,
It really comes down to cost. Can you port heads cheaper than sourcing 2.4S heads? Porting: I actually prefer portwork over what the factory gives you. It gives you a chance to take advantage of reshaping ports. A good example would be factory racing heads. The exhaust is horrible as the port floor is completely wiped out.

I would prefer a set of real S heads. I missed the last reasonable priced ones that came up, here.
Of course, you're right about cost. The reason I am looking at this option is because of the cost. |

There is no difference between 2.2S and 2.4S heads....and 2.7RS heads for that matter. If you are not building a concourse car include 2.2S heads in your search as well.
