carbon build up in exhaust port, wire brush out?

I am in the middle of finally putting my ssi's on and noticed a lot of carbon buildup in my 60k mile blueprinted 2.7's exhaust ports. It looks a little extra cakey in some ports compared to others. Is this normal and should i try to wire brush and/or scrape it off the walls and valve? Or should i just leave it and run shell nitrogen stuff with some fuel additive? Thanks.

Also I am throwing plugs in, i know it has been talked about alot but with my stock ignition system(plus clewett wires) what should the gap be?

You can remove it but see to it that it doesn't get inside the cylinder via an open exhaust valve. And don't scratch the inside of the ports.
It will come back.
Dunno if mixture air/fuel has anything to do with it. You could have worn valve guides. (yes, also after only 60K miles...)

Pics would help too .
