![]() ![]() I'm mostly through a tear down on my 71 2.2L. I finally got the dizzy off and can now read the bosch part #. Surprise, surprise, it is a 0-231-121-006 which is for a 65-67 and has no vacuum advance on it. The correct one for a 71 is a 0-231-159-008. I've never had any problem with, the engine always ran fine. Is this OK to do? Am I missing any performance by using this older one? Thanks for your help. |

The vacuum pod is a retard for emissions. All pods until 78SC were retard to give a late spark at idle.

The curve in your solex distributor is fine. You should need to run it @ 5 deg BTDC @ idle to even it out to the 71 curve. you would need to verify total advance @ 6000 rpm.
It's a nice curve.
