Barn Find 3.0 Rebuild

Guys,

I thought you might enjoy this project. And it gives me a chance to get more active on the site. This will be the saga of my first 911 engine rebuild in 30 years.

What: Engine from '79 3.0 SC (930/04)
After the owner determined that the engine wasn't locked up, I bought the car off e-bay. It had sat outside for 20+ years next to the barn. It has 56K on the clock. The story was that it wouldn't start. And, yes, I had some idea what I was getting into.

Why:
The engine will go into my '71 (eventually). I figured it can't cost more to overhaul than the 2.2T (and you know the rest of the 'reasons').

I'm just getting started. So, no questions at this point. But, advice is certainly welcome (I'm sure I've forgotten most of what I knew years ago..).

Kirk
PS: Found so far: Oil tank empty, water in the engine, right tensioner failed, cam out-of-time 90 cam deg, #6 intake rocker broken, nice cylinders (yeah, something good!)
PPS: I'm really slow; cleaning parts is a real pain!

On the floor:

Only the mud daubers survived!

Yikes!

Surprised to find teeth sheared off the cam wheel..

#4, 5 and 6...

I love these kinds of projects!
Sigh I'm completely out of space and zero personal time. I envy you!

Go for broke!
