Bench test a Carrera tensioner?

Does anyone know of a procedure to bench test these? I have a set that came out of working engine, so they are almost surely ok, but I'd like to test them, first.

I use a big syringe and pressurize them until oil comes out the two vents (gets all the air out) then try to collapse it gently in a vice or with a C-clamp, if it holds well they it should be OK. I say "should" because how much pressure should it take to collapse it? It should not bleed down easy.
