small leak at theromostat
 

I have a small leak at the oil line fitting at the thermostat in front of the right rear wheel. The oil line is new but the thread on the thermostat were a bit rough. I cleaned and straightened them with a thread file and used a large nut to run them to make sure they were all good and straight. It looks like the threads were nicked at one time maybe by someone cutting of the old oil line in a prior life.

Question, since it is a very small drip can I use liquid teflon, of something to seal the threads? I'd prefer something that will still let me service this line in the future if needed.

I like to put antiseize on the pipe, the inside of the nut and threads so everything youre turning has lube on it. Wrapping some teflon on there wouldnt hurt and even a short breaker bar for the extra twist wont hurt.

The threads are not the problem. It's the mating surface of the two fittings. Take it back apart and make sure there are no nicks in the mating surface. Clean them well and reassemble and it should not leak.
