Which is "Z1"?
I have crank pulley that does not say "Z1" anywhere. I have 4 notches with 2 really close to each other.
I assume the left notch that is "squared" bottom (black mark) is the one, not the "V" shaped one (in line with case plug)? When the left notch is on the parting line, the bottom two notches (which are square too) appear to be exactly across from each other making a level line with the engine. My instinct is saying it is the left but I want to make sure. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1303490850.jpg |
The mark before (right) should be the BTDC There should also be a mark opposite TDC mark on the wheel. Put a pencil down the plug hole to double check it.

Craig, what do you mean opposite "Z1"? 180 degrees or something else?
|
yes, mine has a mark 180 opposite Z1 but its an 86, it may be different.

Unless someone has altered your pulley, your assumption is correct.

My trick for remembering which of the 2 marks is "Z" on a 3.2 is to think of the right mark as the "Heads up, you're almost to TDC/Z" mark.

Z1
Hi:
I have a Carrera 1985 and the pulley also have the two notches, but one is aligned with the oval hole in the pulley. Mine has one round at 180 * of Z1 and the other is oval at Z1. I think that the notch that is aligned with the oval hole is the Z1 (at least that is what the Bentley manual says). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1305984358.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1305984575.jpg Hope this help because I am in the process of rebuilding and also had the same doubt. Thanks, Francisco. |
