Oil leak on the top of the motor

I recently purchased a track car looking very much like a '74 RSR. It had a recent technology refresh....the motor is a 3.4L, 12.5:1 compression with PMO carbs...had about 9 hours on it. The first time I got the car out on the track, I got about 12 run sessions on the car and it started leaking oil out of the top of the motor.

I changed the crankcase top breather cover gasket, the oil pressure sensor and the o-ring on the thermostat, cleaned up the motor and tried it again.

It looks like the thermostat is the bad actor and is still leaking after the new o-ring.

I'm running out of ideas...anybody have any suggestions??

ive had this problem many times on higher revving "race cars" the culprit is 9 time out of 10 the breather cover, try removing the gasket and using loctite 574 in its place, should fix your problem
