Angry 915 - Transmission Rebuild

I just got an assessment on my transmission rebuild in which I was told that I need to replace synchro's for all 5 gears, the first and second gear, the shift sleeves for gears 1-4 and the release fork for the bell housing plus labor, oil and gaskets and seals for $2219.00 plus tax . Is this reasonable for this type of rebuild?

If I had to buy another transmission with better gears etc what should I expect to pay? or I guess another option is buy another core and see what I come up with.

Looking for advise and comments!

Dean

You can buy a rebuilt one here for less than $2k, sometimes substantly less. Syncros gone in 4th and 5th?
