2.4S P/C's on a 2.2 Case/Crank ?
I have a set of 5 nice 2.4S pistons/cylinders. Original Mahle parts, nice shape. They are from a 2.4S that was rebuilt years ago with 2.2S P/C's. I only have 5... assume the other was the cause of the original teardown.
Anyone have a matching 5th for sale? Anyhow, i also have a 2.2T core engine (does not turn over) and a set of Weber 40IDS carbs with manifolds and linkage and a "was running fine when removed" 2.4T engine with CIS What are the odds of this stuff forming the basis of some sort of fun engine to try and rebuild for not huge sums of $$$ while I search for parts and plan for my dream motor? |
Any opinions at all? Gotta figure out what to keep and what to sell and what to start looking for. The 2.4T engine with CIS arrived on a pallet today. If Im gonna sell it.... don't want to even take it off the pallet.

Your starting with 8.5 CR and shortening the crank stroke by 5+mm.

you would end up with around 8:1 CR, i wonder if you could use this combo by adding a turbo?

Take the 2.4 bottom end (case, crank and rods) use the 2.2 T heads (port to 36mm)
and by a set of AA 86mm cylinders with JE pistons (9.5:1). Add a set of mod "S" cams. With the 40mm Webers you have a 180+ engine. Edit: it looks like I read it wrong. When I first read the post I thought you had the 2.4 CIS engine as well. If not just buy a 2.4-2.7 crank & rods and build the same engine |
I think you want to put the 2.2 pistons in the 2.4 motor. this will increase compression and give you a nice increase in hp. disclaimer, this might just apply to 2.2 S pistons.
