Decode early 911 engine number
I'm not great on pre-1969 engine numbers. Does a number that starts 822 (XXXX) decode for anyone ?
Thx PS - if 822 , makes no sense . How about 322 ? |
RB,
Look for the engine type number stamped on the case just to the right of the fan housing next to where the cam tower oil lines attaches. It looks something like this: 911/xx and those two numbers are the key ones. |
+1 what Steve said. After you find that number you can look it up here Porsche Resource
The serial number has a star stamp in the beginning and the end. Its not a bad idea to document this number as well for insurance reasons. |
Mystery solved ....to read & view photos . It's over on my co-post regarding this : "early 911 engine no. " / main Tech Forum.
