2.2 T engine mate to '72 915
Hey what is involved in making a 2.2 T mate to a 915? Will the flywheel of the 2.4 work on the crank of a 2.2? Or conversely will a 2.2 flywheel mate up to 915 Pressure Plate,TO and clutch? What is involved? or please point to the right post within this forum. Thanks in advance guys.

HI zotman72
if your 2.2 has a 911 gearbox and a pull clutch? all you will need is the clutch centre plate and the release/throw-out bearing re-placing, if you have a 901 box you will need every thing ; flywheel, bolts, clutch pressure, centre plate, release bearing, starter ring gear. you will need to change the clutch cable for the 915 one and do not forget the gear linkage shaft and shifter for the 915. regards mike |

I found this 2.2 engine as rebuildable core for my destroyed 2.4 S MFI engine. The rebuild will be using all the topend component that survived the #5 rod thrown last year. I wanted make sure I could use all my existing driveline components from the '72. Thanks Bruce and Mike. Both of you have helped me in the past (Bruce you sold me a carrera cooler 12 years ago and Mike the SM gears).

HI zotman72
just check your piston/crank combination is not hitting the main bearing webs on the bottom of the piston skirt, you may have to just relieve the case or if you have some scales, the bottom of the piston for clearance. regards mike |
