No loctite, use Curil T.

Don't use a hardening sealant on these gaskets (like locktite). Install them dry or use a non-hardening sealant like curil-t. If you use a hardening sealant it will dry before you install the cylinder heads and change your deck height. It will also cause uneven deck heights and camshaft binding when you torque the heads.

To say nothing about making it hard to disassemble.

For fun, take a junk case and junk cylinder. Coat the spigot with green Loctite sleeve retainer, and install the cylinder. Let it set for a week. Try to pull the cylinder out. You can't.

Porsche didn't use anything for this application, at least not through the end of the factory manuals I have (1983).

Curil-T may be helpful (I just used it for the first time on my current work in progress, as the only drawback I can see to its use is it is yet another fiddle step and thus takes a bit more time), but Andy has pointed to a real drawback to using most of the common sealants. Even the very squishable Loctite Orange case sealant needs to be compressed fairly soon after application.
