Wrist Pins

I just received a new set of 3.3 P&Cs from Mahle. While inspecting one of the pairs I noted there seemed to be a difference in the included wrist pin as compared to the pin that cam out of my original set (see below). Both measure to be 23MM but the pins that cam out of the motor appear to be beveled on the inside, seemingly reducing material and weight (haven't weighed them yet). Any thoughts on whether I should use the originals or the new ones? Sorry for the poor photos, really need a better camera and some better lighting in the shop.

The original is the pin on the left in the vertical picture and the pin with the two markings on the surface in the horizontal photo.

The thicker one is what the 3.3 turbo should have.

At a Summit Point race I watched a guy's turbo motor blow up on the track. A year or so later I met him at another race, and asked him what caused it. He said he had taken too much weight out of his wrist pins.

Perhaps that is why the 3.3 turbo pin is thicker?
