HELP, I Cracked a Mahle Cylinder. What Could Be The Causes?

Hi Guys,
I don't want to unnecessarily point the finger, but I need your advice.
I had a New York shop install a new Intercooler, K27 and headers and then I cracked a Mahle cylinder right down the middle. This failure happened in less than 100 miles after my shop did the change out installation of the IC, new turbo and headers.
The pistons looked fine but the cylinder was wasted.
I'll try to post a photo. Do I have to subscribe to post a photo or maybe I can't find how to post a photo while using my iPhone.
Is it possible that my shop missed something important that created an over boost situation?
What should I think?
1987 930 in Long Island.
All comments will be very appreciated.
Please feel free to contact via email if you prefer.

The split cylinder was probably do to excessive cylinder pressure caused by an over-boost situation.
I did the same thing on a new turbo engine when the waste gate hose fell off.

Hi,

You didn't post any details about the parts that were recently installed on your 930 nor anything about whether it has a 1 bar boost spring or not, however I've seen serious boost creep issues with most of the current aftermarket header systems.

If that happened, your engine could have seen 1.4 bar and thats a serious problem. Did you see anything beyond .8 bar on the dash-mounted guage?
