Will not start!
Trying to get my freshly rebuilt 85 carrera started.
Checked plug leads and spark, fuel pump and fuel pressure, throttle sensor switch. I get the occasional back fire, but that's all. Any one got any ideas? |
Distributor clocked correctly?
Plug wires in proper order? |
Check flywheel sensor, switch them around. The flywheel sensors are the same but send different info.

Checked the cam timing and plug leads several times.
Replaced the fuel pump in desperation. Switched the flywheel sensors around and it sounds worse. Replaced the throttle position switch. I can only hear one injector ticking, so have just pulled them all and sent them to be checked. I'm going away for a week tomorrow so I will have to wait to see if this works. Thankyou for the advice so far. Lee. |
How long was your engine apart?
It is not uncommon for injectors to stick closed after sitting for a few months. You can stimulate them with a short 12 volt burst from a secondary source. One more thought: The ground cluster on the left side of the manifold is easily overlooked. Just a thought |
