Increase power 3.2 l engine
Hi folks,
just bought a rolling shell with lots of Turboparts but without engine. A 915 gearbox is included therefore would like to put in a 3.2l engine from 1984 - 1986 My idea is to increase the power of the engine to over 300hp. It is a must criteria for me and my project Who has experince in that issue? Maybe even done the same and checked on the bench? I am looking for a tuning kit like pistons, rods, camshaft etc that we can rebuild the engine. Increase engine displacement to 3.4 / 3.5 or 3.8 liter? Would be very thankful to every advice and offer. Also looking for a complete engine Some more background informations: 1. Car will have a weight of less than 1000kg (2000pounds) 2. Dont want to go to the original 3.6 engine cause was done by so many other people. Woulkd like to try something new 3. Dont want Turbo! 4. Budget is between 5 to 10.000 Dollar for parts. Will rebuilt it on my own together with an engine specialist 5. Dont want that water cooled softy engine - air cooled rulez Car will be built for Nürburgring Nordschleife but will also get a registration to drive on own axle to the ring Car will not make any compromises Best regards Bjoern |

Its possible to make 300BHP from a variety of displacements, however there are several factors to consider such as,
1) Available fuel octane 2) Type of use 3) Powerband (race engines require close-ratio gears) I do have some experience at this and I can tell you that a 3.5 litre engine makes over 300 BHP in a relatively mild state of tune, however none of this is cheap to do and I strongly recommend you bump your budget to make this even possible. Properly done, these can very reliable and certainly perform beyond expectations in a light car. |
Don't have any way of knowing what turbo parts you have but you will probably be best off financially selling all that stuff here and on ebay and buying a complete used 930 motor.
Occasionally modified high ouput EFI turbo motors come up for around half of what went into building them. Building a strong reliable turbo motor will run you around $20,000 or more easily. |
