1975 RSR Replica up and running
I acquired a 75' 911 RSR Replica.
The engine had suffered some head damage and scuffing of the pistons. Instead of jumping into a compete engine rebuild I bought a 3.6L 964 street engine and proceeded to do a top end refresh. This was my first engine rebuild and my first experience with an air cooled engine. With a lot of summer homework reading Wayne's book, encouragement from resources like this forum, and a mechanic friend lending me his shop and doing some double checking of my reassembly I had success firing it up this week. The biggest challenge turned out to be reverse engineering the MOTEC 48 ECU and harness system. 964 3.6L Long Block ReAssembly http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319226490.jpg Long Block Complete http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319226645.jpg Street Long Block, Race Engine Intake/Fuel System/Ignition http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319225675.jpg Mated with G50 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319225617.jpg Installed in RSR http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319225652.jpg Video of Start Up 1975 RSR 3.6L Engine Rebuild - YouTube Still have to chase down some non-engine oil leaks and have it tuned up. Mike,
My guess is that is going to be FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Can you tell me what coil packs you are using....very tidy!

They are Clewett Engineering coil paks.
Also Clewett Crank Pulley. The ITB are from Borla who bought TWM. I think the fuel rails are from them as well. Mike |
Knocked out the majority of oil leaks over the weekend.
Plugged all vacuum leaks. I've got tapping or clacking coming from my passenger side of the engine. I'm just not experienced enough to know source. Maybe needs valve adjustment. Will have to find a 911 expert to give it a listen. Mike |
Tapping was from a rocker whose valve I had over tightened.
Went and had it tuned last Thursday. 1975 RSR Engine Tuning - YouTube |
